This program includes a panel discussion of George Frideric Handel's 1733 opera Orlando, interspersed with performances of arias from the opera by members of Les Arts Florissants. Panelists discuss the musical conventions and instrumentation of baroque opera, contemporary musicians with a specialty in the form, and the plot of Orlando, one of Handel's "magic operas."
