- Summary
- This program in the Pillow talk discussion series was based on the book Envisioning dance on film and video, edited by Elizabeth Zimmer. The participants discuss the various uses of film and video recordings of dance, including documentation and preservation, teaching and study, inclusion in live performances, creation of videodance works, and the introduction of dance to a wider audience. David Vaughan speaks about Merce Cunningham's interactions with film, video and motion capture technology. The discussion is interspersed with film clips, each lasting approx. 2 min., from the DVD accompanying the book. Norton Owen, director of the Jacob's Pillow archives, introduces the excerpt from Kinetic molpai.
