- Summary
- This introduction to the work of Merce Cunningham was presented immediately prior to a performance by the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Bonnie Brooks discusses the unique qualities of Cunningham's choreography and audience reactions to it. Two students from the Columbia College dance program demonstrate a classroom warm-up in Cunningham technique. David Vaughan speaks about the independence of music, dance and decor in Cunningham's work and gives background on the pieces on the evening's program: Views on stage and BIPED.
