Frederic Franklin, Virginia C. Gildersleeve Professor at Barnard College, with Mindy Aloff, views and discusses rare film clips from his career, featuring the choreography of Frederick Ashton, Léonide Massine, George Balanchine and Robert Hill. In addition to discussing the pieces featured in the film clips, Franklin speaks about his partnership with Alexandra Danilova; Balanchine's association with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo; Franklin's role in the ballet Streetcar named desire; learning and teaching choreography; his first professional job, dancing in a show starring Josephine Baker; and touring with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo.
