Note
  • Recording of excerpts of gala performances by American Ballet Theatre and guest artists at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, D.C., on March 30 and April 6, 1976 and of a class rehearsal presumably led by Mikhail Baryshnikov followed by brief interviews with several unidentified dancers, at the Center, on March 31, 1976 (disc 1, track 2).
  • The sound quality overall is fair to good, but the sound quality of the very few directions given by the instructor (disc 1, track 2) is poor. In addition, the sound quality of the questions put to the dancers interviewed on disc 1 is often poor or not audible at all. The recording is interrupted regularly by technical comments and directions.

  • Disc 1, track 2 (ca. 28 min.), 03/31/76. Audio recording of class or rehearsal, presumably with Mikhail Baryshnikov [recording is mainly of the musical accompaniment and to a lesser extent the sound of the dancers' feet; the sound quality of the very few directions given by the instructor is poor]; at ca. 15 min. after the recording begins, brief interviews, frequently interrupted, are conducted with an unidentified female dancer and two unidentified male dancers, for the most part on the general subject of a career in dancing; the sound quality of the questions is often poor, and they are not always audible.
