Summary

John Sefakis, president of Dancers Over 40, introduces this panel discussion featuring four former Broadway dancers speaking about their careers. Moderator Harvey Evans opens with comments on the importance of retaining links to theatrical history through older dancers. The speakers describe their backgrounds and how they came to dance on Broadway; they reminisce about shows they performed in and their encounters with choreographers and dancers including Gene Kelly, Jeannie Coyne, Bob Alton and Jack Cole. Pimm and Genese speak about getting their start in revues at the Roxy Theater and about their work in movies, modeling and teaching. George Marcy speaks about his decision to leave Broadway and his later return. Stuart Hodes speaks about the books he has written and his creation of a website to collect the stories of "chorus gypsies." Following the panel, George Marcy performs excerpts from a one-man show combining personal recollections with songs and tap dances.
