- Summary
- Paul Kellogg moderates a panel discussion about Mark Adamo's new opera, Lysistrata. Panelists include composer and librettist, Mark Adamo. He is later joined by vocalists Emily Pulley, James Schaffner, Jennifer Rivera, James Bobick, and Joshua Winograde. Adamo discusses what drew him to this story and how Michael Kahn was drawn into directing this opera. He also describes the difference between creating an opera with, as opposed to without, an existing adaption. Emily Pulley talks about how she has grown in her role as Lysia since the premiere in Houston and she and James Schaffner discuss their affinity for contemporary opera. Jennifer Rivera, James Bobick and Joshua Winograde discuss their performances in Mark Adamo operas. The panel discussion is interspersed with selected arias from the opera, all introduced by Adamo.
