- Consists of photographs of slate tombstones, finished as chalkboards and placed at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Lake View Cemetery, and the Fields Sculpture Park, with epitaphs written in chalk by passersby. An essay by Peter Lamborn Wilson entitled "R.I.P. : Joyce Burstein's the epitaph project" precedes the images.
