- Summary
- Lourdes López moderates a panel discussion with dancer/choreographer, Ib Andersen. Includes footage of Andersen, Heather Watts, and the New York City Ballet dancing Concerto for two solo pianos choreographed by Peter Martin with music by Igor Stravinsky. Andersen discusses what preserving the Balanchine legacy means to him; what is the essence of Balanchine choreography; and the experience of teaching Balanchine dancing to a new generation of dancers. Also includes rehearsal footage from the ballet Mozartiana choreographed by George Balanchine for Ib Andersen in 1981. Andersen discusses how long it took to learn how to dance Mozartiana and how he functions as an artistic director. Andersen then introduces excerpts from the ballet Mosaik; describes how dance has changed during his life as a dancer; and talks about where he would like to see Ballet Arizona in five years. Andersen then introduces the excerpts from his ballet Elevations.
