- Description
- 1 videodisc (DVD) (29 min.) : sd., col. SP; 4 3/4 in.
- Summary
- Estelle Parsons speaks with Newsday critic Linda Winer. She discusses her long, accomplished and multi-faceted career as an actress, from being the first woman newscaster on the Today show, to her film career highlighted by her 1968 Oscar for Bonnie & Clyde, to her work acting and directing in the theatre, which she considers her home. Parsons bemoans the lack of "significant" work for actors, and insists on the importance of teaching the classics and dramatic literature. She argues forcefully that the theatre is the only venue for serious actors, and for the need for a vibrant classical theater, in which the most talented performers could be involved.
