- Description
- 1 videodisc (NTSC) (78 min.) : sd., col.; 4 3/4 in.
- Summary
- In this lecture presentation, Jean Erdman discusses in depth her production of Moon mysteries, three visionary plays for actors, singers, dancers and musicians by William Butler Yeats. Erdman speaks about the inspiration for the project, her concept of "total theater," and her collaboration with composer Teiji Ito. Erdman's detailed descriptions of the three plays (A full moon in March, The cat and the moon, The only jealousy of Emer) are interspersed with slides and video excerpts of the 1974 production. The picture quality of the video is poor, but audio is unaffected. The lecture lasts 68 min. Afterwards, three performers from the original production (Andrea Stark, John Genke, John FitzGibbon) are introduced and model masks from the production. The final ten minutes of the recording includes footage of a post-lecture reception.
