- "This facsimile edition of George Catlin's North American Indian Portfolio reproduces a copy of the New York edition of 1845 and incorporates six additional plates from the London edition of 1844 not included in the American edition. Both of these volumes are in the possession of the Library of Congress. The plates of this facsimile were printed in collotype by Jaffé Lithographers of Vienne, Austria, on acid-free paper. The binding was done by Ernst Ammering of Ried im Innkreis, Austria, after a design by Renée Khatami in the style of the period. This edition is strictly limited to 950 sets worldwide, issued either bound or in portfolio format. Each of the sets, completed in the spring of 1989, is signed by Dana J. Pratt, director of publishing, Library of Congress, and Robert E. Abrams, president of Abbeville Press" -- colophon.
