- "This book is printed on Lenox, a 100% cotton rag paper. The illustrations are original linoleum block prints. Some of the images, without text, are also available as limited edition block prints. I set the text in True Type Arrus BT with True Type CG Omega titles, using Quark Express for Windows. Leda Black of Black of Black Swan Printing converted the text to polymer plates. I printed both linoleum blocks and text plates on a Vandercook cyclinder press in my studio in Oakland over the summer of 1994. The binding is a variation of an exposed-sewing split-board binding first shown to me by Julie Chen. I made fifty copies of Venus on the Half Shell, plus five artist's proofs. This copy is number ..."--colophon.
- Text consists of two sections of accordion-folded leaves, each with a further bifolium sewn on, with normal 4-leaf title and colophon gatherings.
