The choreographer discusses his background, the works performed, the synthesis of movement styles in his choreography, and the mission of his company Donald Byrd/The Group, which is partly to make works that appeal to broad audiences. The discussion is followed by a performance of Byrd's work in progress The Harlem nutcracker.
