- Summary
- Composer, screenwriter and performer Betty Comden discusses her career with co-hosts Susan Haskins and Michael Riedel. Focusing on her long-time collaboration with Adolph Green, she speaks about their creation of the Broadway musical Bells are ringing, which they wrote for star Judy Holliday; beginning her showbiz career with a comedy club act The Revuers in Greenwich Village; getting their first Broadway break with their 1944 show On the town; the qualities she perceives in her work with Green; prevailing as a woman writer of musical comedies; getting ideas for songs, and the difficulty of making lyrics work; her experience working with composer Jule Styne; and what she feels accounts for the longevity of her collaboration with Green.
