- Summary
- Ethan Mordden, author of the recently published book Rodgers & Hammerstein, speaks with co-hosts Susan Haskins and Michael Riedel. Mordden discusses the collaboration of composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein, who first came together to create the 1943 Broadway blockbuster Oklahoma!, and then went on to write such hit shows as The king and I and The sound of music. Mordden expounds on the genesis of Oklahoma!, based on the play Green grow the lilacs by Lynn Riggs. He speaks also about how he came to write his book, a visual and critical analysis of Rodgers & Hammerstein's productions.
