- Summary
- Ethan Mordden, author of the recently published book Rodgers & Hammerstein, speaks with co-hosts Susan Haskins and Michael Riedel. Mordden discusses the lesser-known "flops" by composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein such as Allegro, Me and Juliet, and Pipe dream. Mordden expounds on the attributes, as well as defects, of these shows, and the reasons for their comparative lack of success. He speaks also about Rodgers & Hammerstein's hit show The sound of music, which was made into an enormously successful movie.
