Summary
Stage and film director Howard Davies talks with co-hosts Susan Haskins and Michael Riedel about his work, including his current Broadway revival of the musical My fair lady. The British director expounds on his direction of David Hare's play The secret rapture in London, as well his direction of the motion picture adaptation. He discusses his direction of My fair lady, in which he sought to emphasize the character of Eliza Doolittle; his assessment of Broadway's theater and its performers in comparison with London's; and his work with actress Kathleen Turner on the Broadway production of Cat on a hot tin roof, and with Ian Charleston in the London production.
