Topics include the apparent demise of the Broadway "season"; the Tony Award as the measure of Broadway success; the Broadway theatergoing audience; the high price of tickets; the increasing need by theatrical producers of alternative sources of revenue, such as road companies; the growing demand for high spectacle productions; the role of the city and the state in promoting Broadway; the independent nature of Broadway producing, which makes it difficult to achieve large-scale goals; and lastly, Broadway's future.
