Summary
Susan Loesser, author of a recently published book about her father, composer Frank Loesser, speaks with co-hosts Susan Haskins and Michael Riedel. She discusses her parents' performance of Loesser's songs such as Baby it's cold outside; her father's mentorship of younger composers; his 1961 musical How to succeed in business without really trying, on which he worked with producers Cy Feuer and Ernest H. Martin and book writer Abe Burrows, all longtime colleagues; revivals of her father's productions; her father's second-to-last-show Pleasures and palaces, which "died" in Detroit; and his final unproduced musical, Señor Discretion himself, which was left unfinished when he died in of lung cancer in 1969.
