Patrick Bissel speaks with Kyra Lynn Kaptzan about the reasons for his rebellious behavior while a student; his early dance training, including his frequent change of schools; joining the Boston Ballet, including an anecdote about his audition and his reasons for leaving the company; studying with Stanley Williams; reasons he joined American Ballet Theatre rather than New York City Ballet, including the role George Balanchine played regarding this decision; his first roles at American Ballet Theatre, including the role of Solor in the ballet La bayadère and its technical difficulty; the frequency of his partnering roles; dancing in Canada.
