Side A (ca. 51 min.). Sara Shelton speaks about her work Geode (ca. 11 min.); Phoebe Neville and Edward Spena each speak about Neville's work Untitled duet, followed by movement demonstrations (ca. 11 min.); Gus Solomons, Jr. speaks about his work Chapter one (ca. 3 min.); Douglas Dunn speaks about his work, titled Hubbahubba and the boohoos (the second part of Octopus, the work performed earlier) followed by a movement demonstration. His talk is interrupted twice by the audience's singing of Happy Birthday to him and ends with their shouting and laughter as they throw balls at the stage (ca. 7 min.). Question and answer period with the audience moderated by Solomons; topics include audience expectations as to what dance is (ends abruptly; ca. 19 min.).

  • Recording of lecture-demonstrations given by Sara Shelton, Phoebe Neville, Gus Solomons, Jr., and Douglas Dunn at The New School for Social Research in New York City on Oct. 19, 1974. This group of lecture-demonstrations is the second of four that were held between Oct. 12 and Nov. 2, 1974, part of the ChoreoConcerts and critiques series of lecture-demonstrations performed at The New School and sponsored by the Choreographers Theatre. Shelton, Neville, Solomons, and Dunn speak about about their respective works, commissioned for and performed at the program, including movement demonstrations. The talks are followed by a question and answer period with the audience.
