  • Revision of the 1550 edition.
  • Illustrations: numerous unsigned woodcuts, comprising pictorial borders on title pages (general, Prophets, N.T.) and many illustrations within four-piece ornamental borders. The illustrations seem to have been copied from the "Biblische Figuren" of Virgil Solis. The Matthew cut is dated 1583. An engraved portrait of Frederick II by Hendrik Goltzius after G. Cornelis, often found mounted on the blank verso of the general t. p., is bound in. The Danish arms within woodcut border on prelim. leaf 2a are in facsimile in this copy. An engraved t.p. from a later edition is substituted fro the woodcut bordered t.p. wanting from v. 2. Ornamental initials.
  • Imperfect: general t.p. mutilated and mounted; prelim. leaf 2 (arms and pref.) of v. 1 wanting, supplied in facsimile; t. p. of v. 2. wanting, supplied from another edition; last leaf (blank) of v. 3 wanting.
  • Binding, contemporary, of blind stamped brown leather over wooden boards, with leather and brass clasps; heavily mended and rebacked (gold tooling on spine).
