Summary

Cassette contains semi-annual lunch board meeting for New York Shakespeare Festival. New board member Jim Brigham was elected. The Pirates of Penzance movie was discussed; its music soundtrack was recorded in New York before filming began in London. The San Francisco tour of Pirates of Penzance was off and running with a great cast and reviews. A tour of A chorus line began in Buffalo, N. Y. Joseph Papp then announced the plays in the new season: "Dexter Creed", "Family devotions", "Gallery", "Wrong guys"; "Lullaby and goodnight", "Twelve dreams", "Specimen days" by Meredith Monk and "Goose and Tomtom." The financial report was abruptly interrupted by overdubbed excerpts of selections of Frank Sinatra's Greatest hits (Vol. 1) and Gretchen Cryer's "I'm getting my act together and taking it on the road". Afterward, Papp and the board members discussed NBC cable deal for NYSF shows, inculding Liz Swados's "Alice at the Palace" an upcoming NBC show starring Meryl Streep. Other various projects by Liz Swados were also mentioned.
