  • Disc 1 (ca. 32 min.). George Bardyguine speaks with Don McDonagh about working with Martha Graham in 1959, and again in 1961; an anecdote when a nail was left on the stage and one of Graham's dancers was injured; Graham's dancing at the 54th Street Theater; the effect of Graham's dances on audiences; class demonstrations given by Graham; touring in London with Graham, citing her nervousness due to an earlier unsuccessful tour; Graham's dances, including Clytemnestra and Phaedra; Graham's physical presence, and the emotional quality of the choreography; Graham as a dancer and an actor; Graham's working process; Graham's interest in set design and scenery, and the placement of these objects on the stage.

George Bardyguine speaks with Don McDonagh about working at City Ballet in New York; Graham's use of music and collaborating with composers; Robert Starer and his work with Graham; his opinion of Starer as a composer and orchestra leader; Graham's temper; Graham's politeness and graciousness to stage hands and dancers; touring in England, including the accomodations and theaters, such as Prince of Wales Theater; his opinion of Eugene Lester, and his role as orchestra leader for Graham.
