Summary
Intermission features Robert Shaw, famous conductor of the Robert Shaw Chorale, who had a unique opportunity to know Toscanini intimately as they worked in preparation of many broadcasts and recordings. Shaw recalls the first time Toscanini came to listen to the chorus preparing Beethoven's ninth symphony and giving them his instant approval. He reminisces about their work and personal relationship, and describes the musical heritage Toscanini left him with.
