- Description
- 1 sound tape reel (53:03) : analog, 7 1/2 ips., full track mono.; 10 in.
- Summary
- Intermission features a distinguished mezzo soprano Jennie Tourel who immigrated to America in 1941 before the Nazi occupation of France after having established a career in Paris. Being unknown in this country, she says she owes her success here to Toscanini who engaged her to sing a part in Berlioz's Romeo and Juliet and calls him the Godfather of her American career. Tourel recalls with admiration maestro as a person and as a musician, his humor, work ethic, their rehearsal together, and what he taught her as a singer.
