  • The explanatory text that accompanies the illustrations is probably by Michael Hutchins, who printed the book.
  • "Among our collection of Victorian wood blocks are all but two of the engravings for Three jovial huntsmen"--P. 12-14. Caldecott's The three jovial huntsmen, published in 1880, was an adaptation of a story from Edwin Waugh's Old cronies. Caldecott did not mention this at the time. Moreover he credited all 32 wood blocks to his regular engraver, Edmund Evans, though 3 were by John Heywood, of Manchester.
