Summary
"The tale of genji by Murasaki Shikibu written in the 11th century is regarded to by the world's first novel written by [a] woman. This dance depicts the youth of Prince Genji, a son of Emperor Kiritsubo, who was three years old when his mother passed away. Genji seeks for his mother's image in the emperor's new wife Lady Fujitsubo and is deeply affected by her." -- Saeko Ichinohe program note.
