Summary
This epic film, set in 19th-century China, centers on the violent actions of the nationalistic Boxers who battle to rid the country of all foreigners. When a German diplomat is killed, the British ambassador urges the small group of men, women and children from foreign delegations to take refuge in a walled compound in Peking until reinforcements arrive. Amid the chaos of the fifty-five day seige, springs the love of Major Matt Lewis, commander of the U.S. troops and a Russian countess.
