Details
- Additional Authors
- Cocteau, Jean, 1889-1963.
- Description
- 2 film reels (63 min.) : sd. b&w.; 16 mm.
- Summary
- Cocteau's first film is an allegorical fantasy that explores the process of artistic creation. The opening shot of a collapsing building is arrested, to be completed at the end of the film. The events within this metaphor are, it is implied, taking place in a split second of exterior time. The poet recognizes his muse, denies and flees it, dies and is resurrected twice, becomes one with it. The work of art is autonomous and inescapable. (Circulates)
