- Summary
- One of the most important films to emerge from the Neo-realist movement of postwar Italy. Filmed in Rome, it tells the simple story of an unemployed man and his son trying to survive in the war-devastated capital. The father finds a job pasting up signs, work requiring a bicycle. The bicycle is stolen setting up the film's tragic and ironic ending. Having failed to recover his bicycle, the father and son are forced to steal one and are caught. (Does not circulate)
