- Two boys, on the verge of puberty, embark on a quest to discover what kind of physical, emotional and sexual changes mark this transitional period from childhood to adulthood. 11-year-old Todd is shooting baskets when his older brother Danny notices Todd's new body odor problem. Todd's more physically mature friend, Philip, arrives with an important, personal question and asks Todd to "borrow" Danny's book on puberty. The boys engross themselves in the text while comically attempting to elude Danny's detection. Todd and Philip learn when puberty begins and what hormones and glands cause the changes in development. Probing further, the boys become informed about growth spurts, hormones and mood swings, muscular development, voice deepening, pubic and facial hair and beneficial hygiene habits. While Todd rakes the lawn, Philip reads the section concerning circumcision, and the growth of the penis, testicles and scrotum; an animated sequence delineates the organs of the male reproductive system. The process of erection, and ejaculation are also explained. In Danny's presence, Todd blurts out that Philip has experienced a wet dream. Danny reassures the friends and answers their questions. He also recomends a good book on the subject, prompting Philip and Todd to quickly return the book to Danny's room. As they leave, feeling relieved, Danny warns Todd never to take his belongings again.
