- Description
- 1 videocassette (20 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
- Summary
- The Wooster Group performs a short dramatic fantasy about a touring acting company holed up in a hotel and preparing to perform The Temptation of St. Anthony, by Gustave Flaubert. It is also an imaginary combining of the biographical/bourgeois Flaubert with Flaubert the Sexually Obsessive and Morbidly Curious, who longs for the spiritual and the exotic. The piece was photographed in a hotel room in Washington D.C. in 16mm negative film and transferred to one inch video for editing. It draws much of its imagery from horror and surrealistic film forms. The soundtrack encompasses Salsa, Elvis, and the Red Army Chorus.
