- Summary
- In a French village behind the Allied lines during World War I, a young boy loves a girl though he is importuned by the Little Disturber who also loves him. When the village is mobilized, the young man leaves for the trenches and the hamlet is occupied by the Germans. A Prussian officer tries to ravish the girl but she is rescued by her lover. French troops retake the village. Shot as a propaganda piece, the film was a popular and critical success upon its release. Griffith's use of French and German newsreel footage added an extra dimension of reality. (Circulates)
