Summary

As Poe's tale is read by a narrator, scenes that create impressions of the story appear on the screen in both live action and animation. The live action sequences are devoid of actors. Angular shots of the haunted mansion, chairs falling inexplicably and doors opening of their own accord, create suspense and illuminate the drama. The animated sequences use stop-action photography and amorphous images to accompany the spine-tingling story.
