- Description
- 1 videocassette (30 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
- Summary
- Times Square, home to the theater and other art forms, both glamorous and tawdry, is an integral part of New York City life. In this tape, residents, business people and theater employees offer personal histories and anecdotes concerning the area's colorful past. Today, however, Times Square is the subject of heated debate, pitting those who welcome revitalization in the form of high-rise hotel and office buildings against those who wish to maintain the section's unique identity. Among those who voice their opinions regarding the future of the area are: Gerald Schoenfeld, Chairman of The Schubert Organization; Aston Glaves, Executive Director, Project FIND; Carl Weisbrod, President of the 42nd Street Development Project; Jack Goldstein of Save the Theatres, Inc.; and Brendan Gill, architecture critic for The New Yorker magazine.
