- Summary
- The plot focuses on a shopkeeper beset by creditors, his two daughters and a gentleman disguised as a tramp who comes to their aid. One of Griffith's most complex one-reel Biograph films with over 100 shots, the film takes advantage of Lillian Gish's mime expertise as she tries to kill a mouse. In this central scene there are 28 shots between the first close-up of the mouse and its final escape.
