- Description
- 1 videocassette (28 min.) : sd., b&w.; 1/2 in.
- Summary
- Ever since he was a baby, Larry Wright, now 15, liked to bang out rhythms on anything that was within reach. One day, he upended a plastic compound bucket and began to experiment with different beats by using a pair of sticks and raising and lowering the bucket between his feet. With dozens of rock, jazz, Latin, hip hop and African rhythms in his repertoire, the young drummer entertains appreciative audiences in the subway and on the sidewalks of New York City. In this portrait, Larry discusses his unique and precocious talent. His mother Marilyn expresses hope that Larry's musical gift will allow him to escape the rough neighborhood they live in, a dream partially realized when Larry is accepted by New York's prestigious High School for the Performing Arts.
