Description
1 videocassette (22 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
Summary
Each year, during the dry season, the Jie of northeastern Uganda leave their homesteads and drive their cattle to temporary camps ("nawi") in western Karamoja District where water and grazing are more abundant. This film shows preparations for the 60-mile trip and scenes from the slow journey, including the herding and care of the cattle, bathing at the waterhole, resting under trees and spending the evening within a thornbush kraal. Accompanying the images are the songs of the Jie herdsboys.
