Summary
The story of Pericles, which first appeared in medieval literature, is the saga of the prince of Tyre who is pursued by the vengeful King Antiochus when he discovers the monarch's incestuous relationship with his daughter. Fleeing from place to place, Pericles is shipwrecked, courts and marries Thaisa. Their child, Marina, raised by friends when Thaisa is believed to have died, is kidnapped by pirates and sold to a brothel. In the end, Thaisa is discovered alive and the family is reunited.
