- Summary
- In this austere commentary on class distinctions in the supposedly classless society of Communist Hungary, Jutka, a young woman who works in a textile factory, falls in love with Andras, a university student. She pretends to be a student first to him, and later, to his stolidly bourgeois parents. Finally, Jutka rebels not only against Andras and his demands, but the social conventions that impelled her to lie.
