- Description
- 1 videocassette (120 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
- Summary
- 1) Ole Nydahl - Tibetan Buddhist meditation. Ole Nydahl, a Tibetan Buddhist meditation master in the Kagyupa tradition, takes the viewer step by step through the teaching: quieting the mind, focusing on four motivations for meditation and finally, taking refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. He also discusses the siginificance of the Lama in Tibetan tradition and the use of sound and imagery. 2) Lee Sannella - What is Kundalinī? Lee Sannella, author of Kundalinī, psychosis or transcendence?, has devoted many years to exploring spiritual paths. In this program, he describes the phenomenon of Kundalinī, the energy coiled at the base of the spine which can rise up to the brain. Although western science knows virtually nothing of this process, it is described in detail in eastern spiritual traditions. 3) Shinzen Young - Benefits of long-term meditation. Shinzen Young, an ordained Buddhist monk and scholar of Buddhism, asserts that meditation establishes access to a realm of altered states of awareness. 4) Charles T. Tart - Cultivating mindfulness. Psychologist Charles Tart discusses the difficulty in translating meditative awareness to the problems of daily life. He describes the methods of G. I. Gurdijeff as an alternative form of mindfulness training intended for use in workaday activities.
