Summary
Pablo Picasso's paintings and sculpture embrace the duality of the human and the primordial and serve as testimony to the paradoxes of his elusive personality. This biographical portrait visits the places where Picasso lived and worked. Writings by André Breton, André Malraux, Michel Leiris and Jean Cocteau elucidate the full range and development of the painter's art. Of particular interest are the paintings Picasso felt to be his own personal legacy, these on view in the vaults of the Palais de Tokyo and during the hanging of the new collection in Musée Picasso.
