Summary
This film by a German director who spent his adolescence in Uruguay and later lived in Allende's Chile was shot in the university town of Leon, Nicaragua after the Sandinista victory. Lilienthal used the inhabitants as actors and combines narrative and documentary techniques to tell the story of a young soldier in Somoza's National Guard who conflicts with his father, a supporter of the revolutionary cause. Experiencing a crisis of conscience, the young man participates in a raid on a government stockade with tragic results.
