- Summary
- When she learns that her neighbor Blanca is sick with Aids, Elsie, a Latina single mother, struggles with her own denial about HIV and her new sense of urgency about practicing safe sex. Encouraged by her friend, Lucy, Elsie overcomes her fear of losing her new boyfriend and insists that he use condoms. Elsie also reaches out to help Blanca for the first time. VIDA illustrates the powerful role women play in supporting each other's changes in sexual behavior and attitudes towards people with Aids. (Spanish version available in call number VTH 2033)
