- Summary
- Four generations of Chinese women in America and in Asia discuss aspects of their lives. The film focuses on feet as a symbol of women's subjugation and their slowly changing status in society. It begins with a great-grandmother whose feet were bound at an early age, leaving her nearly crippled, to a generation where femininity was defined by high heels to a current American-born generation.
