- Summary
- This updated animated adaptation of the Sendak story features the music and narration of American composer Peter Schickele. Max, a rambunctious little boy in a wolf suit, is exiled to his room without supper. Enraged, he embarks on a fantastical voyage across the sea to the island "where the wild things are." Unafraid of the wild beasts he encounters, Max tames the creatures and becomes their king. Together they make a rumpus and enjoy a party before Max orders them to stop and go to bed. Feeling lonely, the little boy leaves the island, much to the dismay of his subjects, and returns to his room, happy to discover that a warm dinner awaits him.
