- Summary
- Set in 1959 Kingdom County, Vermont, this is the tale of a 21-year-old farm boy's unyielding determination to enter his first stock car race across the border in Canada. Aided by his stalwart sister, Waterman brooks a number of obstacles, including torrential rain, mud and a rickety bridge, to transport his spiffy '37 hotrod to the competition. Added to Mother Nature's machinations are the unrelenting remonstrations of his irascible, defeatist father.
