- Summary
- This documentary examines the life and work of Yiddish author Isaac Bashevis Singer. It follows the writer, now in his 80's, strolling the streets of his Upper West Side New York neighborhood, on speaking tours and at writing sessions. As Singer reminisces about his youth in Warsaw, his immigration to the United States in 1935, and his apprenticeship at the Jewish Daily Forward, the film interweaves dramatic sequences from the author's A Day in Coney Island, a short story based on his first impressions of America.
